MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas softball was on the road for two more matchups last week, in preparation for an eight-game Sun Conference home stand. The Bobcats took on Palm Beach Atlantic, Friday and Nova Southeastern, Saturday. At the end of the week, STU returned from the road trip 1-3.

The Bobcats split their double-header against the Sailfish. Palm Beach Atlantic took the first game 2-3. After seven innings the game was tied at 2-2. Both teams fought hard for the win but Palm Beach Atlantic won the game in the 11th inning with a single down the right field line. The Bobcats rebounded in the second game with a 6-4 victory. A balanced STU attack led them to victory with eight different Bobcats registering a hit in the second game. Danielle Borrelli and Jessica Matias led the way for St. Thomas picking up two hits apiece.

In the next series STU were swept by Nova Southeastern. In game one the Sharks defeated the Bobcats, 6-2. The Bobcats took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning but could not hold off the Sharks for the rest of the game. Game two of the double-header came down to the wire as St. Thomas fell, 1-0. Nova picked up a run in the bottom of the first and the Bobcats could not get any offense going for the rest of the game.

The Bobcats return home for the first time since February 22nd for an eight-game home stand. STU will host Sun Conference opponents Embry-Riddle, Webber International, Ave Maria and Warner over the next two weeks. This is a chance for the Bobcats to catch their breath after being on the road or at a neutral site for 25 of 26 games to start the season.
