DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The women's tennis teams from Embry-Riddle and SCAD Savannah each won their respective semifinals on Friday to advance to the title match of the 2014 Sun Conference Tennis Tournament. The Eagles and the Bees will be meeting in the tournament finale for the fourth straight year on Saturday.
Top-seeded Embry-Riddle (14-5) was the first to finish its contest against fourth-seeded St. Thomas. After sweeping all three doubles, the Eagles took the lead at the fourth and fifth positions as Paola Montero won the first set against Ahern 6-2 and Eva Vilar won her first set against Brigitte Bustamante 6-0. When rain halted play moments later, both Ahern and Bustamante opted to retire, giving the Eagles the win and a spot in Saturday's championship match.
