BRUNSWICK, Ga. - The St. Thomas Women's Volleyball team continued its impressive start to the 2015 season, improving its overall record to 10-3 after going 3-1 at the Mariner Invitational held over the Labor Day Weekend.  The Bobcats did not lose a set in their three wins at the Invitational, including a straight set win over Bryan (Tenn.), a team receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 poll.  STU's only loss on the weekend came to 20th ranked Coastal Georgia, host school for the event.

STU's Cheye-Anne Savage, Marisa Markus and Jordan Wiese were all named to the All-Tournament team for the Mariner Invitational.

Savage was very effective for the Bobcats on the front line throughout the event. She recorded seven kills and two blocks in a 3-0 win over Martin Methodist and was a constant presence in wins over Bryan and Bethel.  In four sets against 20th ranked Coastal Georgia, she led all players with six blocks and registered eight kills on the offensive end.  Savage currently leads The Sun Conference in total blocks.

Markus recorded double-digit kills in all four matches at the Mariner Invitational.  She had ten kills in each of the first three matches and recorded the match-winning block in the win over Bryan.  Markus followed that effort with the kill on match point to put away Bethel in straight sets.  She contributed in other areas as well, recording four aces and 45 digs over the course of the weekend.  Markus currently leads The Sun Conference in total kills and ranks third in blocks.

Wiese led the Bobcats defensively at the Mariner Invitational, recording double-digit digs in every match.  Against 20th ranked Coastal Georgia, she led STU with 25 digs and served the match-winning point in the straight set win over Bryan.  She had three service aces in the straight-set win over Bethel and also had an ace vs. Coastal Georgia.  Wiese is currently tied with Sydney Maynard as The Sun Conference's leader in total digs.

Setter Dana Nowaczyk recorded over 40 assists against Martin Methodist and Coastal Georgia and contributed in several other areas with a total of seven kills, five aces, three blocks and 33 digs.  Against Martin Methodist, Nowaczyk set up teammate Chancie Grant for the match-winning kill in the straight-set win that opened the weekend.  In the third set vs. Bethel, she had the assist to Markus in the final point of that match as well.  Nowaczyk leads The Sun Conference in assists and currently ranks fifth in the NAIA in the category.

St. Thomas returns to action with the Keiser University Tri-Match to be held on Saturday, Sept. 19 in West Palm Beach.  The Bobcats play host Keiser at 2 p.m. followed by a match vs. Edward Waters at 4 p.m.
