BOBCATS WOMEN’S TENNIS SWEEPS ROAD TRIP

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The St. Thomas women's tennis team delivered two impressive Sun Conference wins over the weekend.  On Friday, the Bobcats dominated host Webber International 9-0 in Babson Park, Fla.  STU followed that perfect performance with a 6-3 victory over host Warner in Lake Wales, Fla.
 
On Friday evening, Victoria Slavina, Cassandra Lemieux, Ksenia Slavina, Maria Dimitrova, and Naomi Maehama all won their singles matches handily with Cynthia Diaz winning via forfeit.
 
On the doubles side, the team number one double team of V. Slavina and Dimitrova won 8-4.  STU's number two doubles team of Lemieux and K. Slavina won 8-0, while the Bobcats won number three doubles via default.
 
On Saturday afternoon, the Bobcats headed to Lake Wales for another conference match up, this time vs. Warner University.  STU scored a 2-1 advantage after doubles play with wins by Lemieux and V. Slavina in number two doubles and Maehema and Diaz in number three doubles.
 
The match would come down the singles competition and the number 3-6 positions all delivered for the Bobcats.  K. Slavina won her match 6-2, 6-2.  In a three-setter, Dimitrova won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.  In number five singles, Maehema won 6-0, 6-1.  Diaz made easy work of her opponent in number six singles, winning 6-0, 6-1.
 
With the two wins, the St. Thomas women's tennis team improved to 2-1 in Sun Conference competition.
