Box Score CLERMONT, Fla.- St. Thomas (5-4) defeated Lyndon State (0-9) 14-2 in the fifth game of the Spring Tournament on Monday afternoon at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.  The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.
 
Leading the Bobcats in the victory was 
Jessica Matias (2-for-3 with a double, triple and a run scored), 
Alexis Castroman (2-for-4 with two singles, 2 RBI, two runs scored), 
Amanda Penton (2-for-3 with two singles, two runs scored and a stolen base), and 
McKenna Delaware (2-for-3 with a double, single, three runs scored and a stolen base). 
 
Jennifer Acevedo started the game and went three innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits, while recording three strikeouts. 
Bridget Ruhl came in to relieve Acevedo in the fourth retiring six of the eight batters she faced. Acevedo was credited with the win.
 
STU  jumped on the Hornets early in the first scoring a total of six runs off only three hits. 
Jessica Matias started off the inning with a double to right field. Next up was 
Alexa Spellman who got hit with a pitch. 
Alexis Castroman then came up and drove in two runs to start the big inning.  The gates opened later with contributions by 
Amanda Penton, 
Jennifer Acevedo, 
McKenna Delaware and 
Ayam Nasser playing the short game and adding four more runs in the inning.
 
Bobcats return to action at the National Training Center tomorrow for two games, 11 a.m. vs. Bethel College and 1 p.m. vs. Grace College.
