HUGE 8-RUN INNING PROPELS BOBCATS

Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. - An eight-run fifth inning propelled St. Thomas (12-11) to a 14-6 win over Cornerstone (4-6) at the National Training Center. 
Carson Catasus led the Bobcats going 4-for-4 with a triple and four RBI.  Amber Reid went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.  Jessica Matias was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Meghan Riddle went 1-3 with three runs scored, while Alexis Castroman and Jamie Gonzalez each added two RBI.
STU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.  Matias led off with a single, then was moved to third on a double by Riddle.  Catasus hit an RBI-single to score Matias, then Gonzalez drove in Riddle on a ground out.
The Bobcats added three runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead highlighted by a two-out RBI triple by Catasus.  
Cornerstone added a run in the bottom of the second and four runs in the third to tie the game at five.  The teams traded runs in the fourth making the score 6-6 after four complete.
STU then exploded with an eight-run inning in the top of the fifth to put the game away.  The Bobcats batted around and benefitted from RBIs from Gonzalez, Catasus, Castroman, and McKenna Delaware.
In the early game on Saturday, STU fell to 
Hannibal-LaGrange (12-6) 7-2.  The Bobcats return to action on Sunday vs. St. Ambrose University at the National Training Center.
