KEISER TOPS BOBCATS IN WOMEN'S TENNIS SEMIS

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – The finals of The Sun Conference Women's Tennis Championship Presented by Olympus Insurance are set as no. 1 seed SCAD Savannah and no. 2 seed Keiser advanced with semifinal wins on Thursday at The Tennis Center at Crandon Park.  SCAD Savannah defeated fourth seeded Southeastern 5-0 in the first semifinal, then Keiser topped no. 3 seed and tournament host St. Thomas 5-0.

The Sun Conference Women's Tennis Championship Finals will be played at 9 a.m. on Friday at the Crandon Park Tennis Center.

SCAD Savannah swept the doubles competition led by an 8-1 win over the number one singles team of Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock over Southeastern's Alexis Quinn and Emily Acierno.  Gbaguidi/Murdock, the number two ranked team in the nation, were recently named The Sun Conference Doubles Team of the Year.  The teams of Julie Albuquerque/Karina Rovira and Daniella Arcile/Angie Dahnous won in doubles as well.

Albuquerque defeated Madeline Wills 6-0, 6-1 in number four singles and Daniella Arcile won against Morgan Logue 6-1, 6-1 in number six singles to clinch the win.

In the second semifinal, Keiser's number one doubles team of Teodora Stanciu and Lola Garcia defeated St. Thomas' Maria Dimitrova and Ksenia Slavina 8-2 in a match played on stadium court.  In number two singles, Ana Pinto and Juliana Goncalves topped Victoria Slavina and Cassandra Lemieux 8-4.  The number three doubles team of Laura Ortega and Livia Toth defeated Naomi Maehama and Cynthia Diaz 8-1 to give the Seahawks a 3-0 lead after the doubles competition.

Keiser then put away the match with wins in singles play as Goncalves defeated Ksenia Slavina 6-4, 6-0 in number three singles and Garcia won number six singles over Cynthia Diaz 6-0, 6-2.
