MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas University senior forward
Supavadee Kunchuan has been named an NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Honorable Mention All-American.
Kunchuan averaged 14.7 points-per-game and 7.5 rebounds-per-game in 2016-17, while shooting 52% from the field. She scored in double figures in 19 of 24 games played, including a career-high 31 points vs. Purdue Northwest.
A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Kunchuan transferred to St. Thomas from Bangkok University for her junior and senior seasons. A former player for the Thai youth national team, she played in the Asian Championships as a member of Thailand's senior national team. An outstanding student in the classroom, Kunchuan recently earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete and Sun Conference All-Academic honors and will graduate from St. Thomas University in May with a degree in Marketing.
In addition to being named NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, Kunchuan was also named First-Team All-Sun Conference this season. As a junior in 2015-16, she was named the Sun Conference's Newcomer of the Year to go along with First-Team All-Conference honors.
Kunchuan's inclusion as an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American marks the third consecutive year that a St. Thomas University Women's Basketball student-athlete has been named to a postseason All-American team. Last year,
Jamesha Willis was named Honorable Mention All-American and in 2014-15 Dannisha Pierce was a Third-Team All-American.
