MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – St. Thomas (5-0) defeated NCAA Division II program Barry University (1-3) 14-0 at Paul Demie Mainieri Field on Friday, February 9^th.

Orlando Rodriguez got the start for the Bobcats, going four innings with six strikeouts, allowing five hits in addition to three walks. Tyeler Checkley earned the win in relief for St. Thomas, going two innings with three strikeouts. Alex Sarmiento also added two innings of relief for STU adding three strikeouts of his own, to close the game out was Ramid Alvarez, who made his collegiate debut.

For the Bobcats offense, the raking continued as they were able to score in double digits for the fourth time in five games. Sergio Lopez (1-3, Solo HR) provided St. Thomas with the first Bobcat home run of the season as he hit one into the night sky and over everything to make it 11-0 in the sixth. Nick Izquierdo (1-1, Solo HR) came off the bench for the Bobcats and added a home run of his own, his first collegiate hit and home run in the eighth inning.

The Bobcats travel to Barry University on Saturday, February 10^th to play the remainder of the series in a double header starting at 12 p.m.
