MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 21, 2021) - St. Thomas University (STU) Beach Volleyball (1-1 TSC) began the 2021 season with a tri-match against Sun Conference foes, Southeastern University and Florida Memorial from the Dominic Miniaci Beach Volleyball Courts on Saturday afternoon.
STU vs. Southeastern (4-1 STU)
Hannah Symonds and Mya Thomas earned the first Bobcat win against the Fire by defeating Brooke Henry and Jordyn Stiger in three sets (21-17, 13-21, 17-15). Arianna Bolinger and Kendall Brock picked up a two-set sweep (21-17, 21-19). Kamden Maas and Sofia Adorno lost a hard-fought match in three-sets (24-22, 23-25, 6-15). The duo of Taytumn Schlegel-Ridgway and Mia Thomas was victorious, winning in three sets (21-11, 13-21, 15-12). Ivana Jiron and Karla Delgado finished the match-up against Southeastern with a two-set sweep (21-19, 21-11), as the Bobcats earned the 4-1 match victory.
STU vs. Florida Memorial (4-1 FMU)
Symonds and Mya Thomas lost the first match of the "Battle of Miami Gardens" in three sets (21-14, 11-21, 3-15). Bolinger and Brock were also defeated in three-sets (21-16, 16-21, 10-15). The Maas-Adorno connection earned a redemption win in two sets (21-14, 21-11). Schlegel-Ridgway and Mia Thomas fell in straight sets (16-21, 11-21) and Jiron and Delgado ended the match with a (14-21, 16-21) loss.

St. Thomas hosts Webber International and Ave Maria in Sun Conference action on Saturday, March 6, from the Dominic Miniaci Beach Volleyball Courts. Matches are set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
