MIAMI GARDENS, FL (November 19, 2024) — St. Thomas University is excited to announce the appointment of Mya Thomas as the new Head Coach of the Beach Volleyball program. A proud alumna of both the indoor and beach volleyball teams, Thomas returns to her alma mater after an impressive playing career, including being part of the program's 2022 conference championship which was the first tournament championship in over 20 years.

"I am excited to return to St. Thomas University as the Head Beach Volleyball Coach," said Thomas. "This program holds a special place in my heart, and I am excited to guide the next generation of student-athletes. I am passionate about building on the foundation we've already set, and I look forward to leading this team to even greater heights."

Thomas' journey at St. Thomas University began as a student-athlete, where she played a pivotal role in both the indoor and beach volleyball teams. During her time on the sand, she was instrumental in the program's lineup consistently playing in the top 3 pairs.

In addition to her on-court success, Thomas is known for her leadership, work ethic, and passion for developing athletes both on and off the court.

Thomas will take over a team that is ready to make a statement and reach new heights. With her leadership, the Beach Volleyball program is expected to raise its competitive edge while fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment for all student-athletes.

As Head Coach, Thomas will focus on continuing to elevate the program's profile both regionally and nationally, while ensuring that student-athletes excel academically, athletically, and personally. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and the development of each player as a complete student-athlete.
