Beach Volleyball Welcomes New Head Coach Katie Hogan

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (May 31, 2024) -  St. Thomas University (STU) Athletics proudly welcomes our newest Head Beach Volleyball Coach, Kathryn Hogan (Katie Hogan). 

Katie is a native from Scott City, Missouri. She relocated to South Florida and had an impressive collegiate volleyball career beginning at Miami Dade College. As a sophomore at Miami Dade College, Hogan emerged as a key player, leading the team in total kills and points while contributing to an impressive 30-4 match record.

Seeking new challenges and opportunities for growth, Hogan transferred to Florida International University (FIU) to further hone her skills. During her time at FIU, she participated in both indoor and beach volleyball seasons, demonstrating her versatility and adaptability as an athlete. In her senior year, Katie started all 28 matches for the Panthers Indoor Team and was named to the 2016 All-Conference USA Second Team\. Katie also led FIU in kills (329), points (384.0), attacks (882), double-doubles (10) and was second in digs (231), service aces (20) and hitting percentage (.229). Katie ranked sixth in kills in Conference USA. Katie also played in pairs 1, 2, and 3 for the Panthers Beach program. 

Following her collegiate career, Katie Hogan made her transition into the professional world by competing on the AVP Pro Beach Tour, the National Volleyball League, and the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. She's had an impressive career in the professional realm thus far with 50 wins in the Open Division in professional tours both domestically and internationally, an international championship win at p1440 2018, and a runner up finish at AVP Hermosa 2019. She still trains and competes professionally today. 

Katie's elite level of training, experience, and knowledge will be instrumental in the growth of STU's Beach Volleyball program. Her passion and commitment to excellence bring a great energy to the program that is unmatched.
