Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 5, 2022) – The receiving votes St. Thomas University Women's Tennis team (0-2, 0-1 SUN) took 18
th ranked Ave Maria University to the brim to open Sun Conference play on Saturday afternoon from the STU Tennis Courts. The Bobcats ultimately fell in the match 3-4 to drop their first contest in league play.
Doubles
The Bobcats lost the doubles-point but took a match against the nationally ranked Gyrenes on court one, defeating the no.6 ranked doubles team in the NAIA.
Annie Carrera and
Maria Camila Puente took the court 7-6 to close out the doubles matches.
Singles
The Bobcats took courts four through six to make it a tight contest. Puente won in the three-set match 6-4, 3-6, and 10-4 to go 2-0 on the day and 3-1 on the week.
Carme Ibanez took court five with another three-set match winning 6-4, 5-7, and 10-3. Masrushcka Berghaus finished a great opening week going 3-1 only dropping a doubles match against Ave Maria. Berghaus won her singles 6-4, 6-4
