GAINESVILLE, Fla. (January 12, 2023) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Track and Field team participated in the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday afternoon for their inaugural meet of the season. The Bobcats had 29 competitors for the meet participating for the men's team, with Isaac Joseph and Khamauri Crabbe leading the charge.
Isaac Joseph emerged as a double winner in the Men's 200m Dash, securing 4th place in the 60m Dash with a time of 6.73 and claiming 1st place in the 200m Dash with an impressive time of 21.63. Joseph's sprinting prowess and versatility were evident as he dominated the short-distance events.
Khamauri Crabbe electrified the track in the Men's 400m Dash, seizing 1st place with a lightning-fast time of 49.43. Maxwell Mesais and Kevin Gonzalez also displayed noteworthy performances, securing 11th and 19th places respectively.
The Men's 1 Mile Run saw Roger Reyes battling it out to secure a commendable 4th place with a time of 4:22.63, while Jabes Jimenez, Raynaldo Narcisse, and Alain Bermudez displayed determination, claiming 11th, 17th, and 29th places.
In the Men's 60 Hurdles, Tristan Simmons gracefully navigated the hurdles, clinching 7th place with a time of 8.38. In the endurance-testing Men's 800m Run, Jamari Benjamin showcased endurance and speed, securing 8th place with a time of 2:04.71. Christopher Reid followed closely in 11th place.
David Perez participated in the Men's 3000m Run, claiming 29th place with a time of 9:23.26. Matthew Seibel and Jimenez also tackled the grueling distance, securing 30th and 31st places.
In the Men's 1600 Relay, the Bobcats had two teams competing. The first was led by Crabbe, Mesais, Bowlin, Simmons, and the second consisted of Almond, Benjamin, Jeune, Reid, Smith. Both teams demonstrated strategic execution, securing 4th and 7th places respectively.
The Men's Long Jump witnessed impressive leaps, with Mike Sanabria securing 12th place with a jump of 5.71m. Chance Ignacio Suarez and Cyle Llanes also participated in the jump, claiming 15th and 16th places.
Up next, the Bobcats will compete in the South Florida Youth Showcase at Tropical Park in Miami Fla. The meet will take place on Saturday, January 20th, 2024
