Parker Leads Bobcats to Comeback Victory over Webber

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 29, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Lacrosse team faced off against Webber International University on Thursday night for another game of Sun Conference play. After being down 9-3 in the first half, the Bobcats were able to mount a huge comeback against the Warriors, defeating them 14-13 with Olivia Parker leading the charge with five goals.

Olivia Parker began her run on early on in the match up against the Warriors, putting the Bobcats on the board less than three minutes into the game off a pass from Jenna Lytch. Heavenlee Nichols followed suit, scoring off a pass from Kaitlyn Chmelir. But the Warriors were quick to respond, tying up the match and going on a 4-0 run to put them up 5-2. Chmelir and Parker put up two more goals in the second half, along with Jorja Schooler who added a goal, making the score 9-6 heading into the halftime break. 

The Bobcats continued to narrow the gap early into the second half with a goal from Schooler, but the Warriors continued to run with the lead. Parker and Schooler each added two goals in quarter three, putting the Bobcats in a one-point defecit heading into the final quarter. Parker scored her fifth goal of the game less than a minute into quarter four, tying up the score and achieving a career-high performance. After some back and forth in the last quarter, Chmelir put up two finishing goals, bringing her total to four for the game, securing the victory with 25 seconds left on the clock. The Bobcats defeated the Warriors 14-13, bringing their overall record to 6-5 and 2-2 in Sun Conference play.
