Miami Gardens, Fla. –St. Thomas University has hired Chris Peterson to the position of Women's Lacrosse Head Coach, Senior Vice President of Athletics Bill Rychel announced. Peterson joins the Bobcat after building Flagler College's program and establishing it as one of the top defensive programs in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NCAA) Division II.

"We are excited for Chris to lead our Women's Lacrosse program," Rychel said. " His strong leadership and background in developing the culture needed to compete at a high level will lead our program to new heights.  I look forward to the impact he can make on the experience for our women and within our department."

Heading to Miami Gardens from St. Augustine, Fla., Peterson was part of Flagler's program from its inaugural season in 2022 until 2025 as the Assistant Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Goalie Coach. Over his four years with the Saints, Flagler won three-consecutive Gulf South Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships between 2023-25 while compiling a 58-19 during his tenure. His final two seasons Flagler ranked amongst the best in the nation in clearing defense, leading Division II in 2024 and finishing second in 2025.

He developed Lauren Ribadeneira into a two-time First Team All-Conference goalie while defenders under his tutelage earned two All-American nods, four IWLCA All-Region selections and 11 All-Conference honors highlighted by Jenn Seebach touted as the USA Lacrosse Division II Women's Preseason Defender of the Year ahead of the 2025 season.
