MOBILE, Ala. (May 14, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Tennis team faced off against Northwestern Ohio in their first match of the NAIA National Championship. The Bobcats defeated the Racers 4-3, advancing to the next match of the tournament. 

Doubles:

• Isabella Ciancaglini-Ribera and Carme Ibanez Navarro defeated Agathe Vaillant and Alizee Ripolles (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 6-3.
• Sofia Nardone and Lauren Seemann tied with Ana Cetina and Munisa Ashurbekova (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 4-4.
• Alicia Andres-Rodriguez and Lauren Fullerton defeated Jelena Lopicic and Neo Mafuyeka (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 6-4.

Singles:

• Isabella Ciancaglini-Ribera defeated Alizee Ripolles (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
• Carme Ibanez Navarro defeated Jelena Lopicic (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 7-6, 8-6, 7-6.
• Alicia Andres-Rodriguez lost to Munisa Ashurbekova (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 0-6, 6-2, 0-6.
• Lauren Seemann lost to Ana Cetina (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 0-6, 3-6.
• Carlota Costa lost to Agathe Vaillant (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 4-6, 3-6.
• Sofia Nardone defeated Neo Mafuyeka (University of Northwestern Ohio) with a score of 6-4, 7-6, 7-3.

St. Thomas University won the match against the University of Northwestern Ohio with a score of 4-3. The Bobcats will advance in the National Championship, facing off against Georgia Gwinnett on Wednesday, May 15th at 1:00 PM CDT.
