Miami Gardens, Fla. – Three Sun Conference contests and a home cross country meet are on deck for St. Thomas this weekend, with the 10th-ranked Volleyball team welcoming the New College of Florida on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. before the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams hosts the Bobcat Invitational at 6:30 p.m. and the Women's Soccer team takes on Florida Memorial at 7 p.m. The No. 1 Men's Soccer team travels to Florida Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.

 The Bobcats' welcome New College of Florida for the first time after starting the 2024 campaign on a 16-game winning streak or the best start in program history. The last time out, STU boasted their highest hitting percentage since 2016 behind a .440 clip along with 53 kills in a 3-0 victory over Florida College on Thursday, Sept. 19. 

Tayla Barnes paces the offense with 3.26 kills, getting her feeds from back-to-back-to-back Sun Conference Setter of the Week Payton Bertke who logs 10.73 assists per set. Barnes adds a team-best 0.93 blocks while Bianca Grassi records 5.64 digs.

New College of Florida takes the trip to Miami Gardens following a 3-0 win against Florida Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 14. Off to a 3-4 start to the season wth a 2-1 mark in Sun Conference play, the Mighty Banyans are led by Anne Downs whose 2.62 kills per set leads the team. Maria Barreis tallies a team-high 3.10 digs while Luisa Hoffman boasts 0.92 blocks.

STU welcomes teams from across the region for the Bobcat Invitational after last competing at the FAU Invitational on Friday, Aug. 31. Roger Reyes was the top finisher in a field featuring runners from the University of Miami, Florida Gulf Coast, FAU and FIU to earn Sun Conference Runner of the Week and STU STUdent of the Month honors, with Isabella Marty representing the fastest runner on the women's side.

Continuing to receive votes in the NAIA National Poll, STU hosts Florida Memorial after opening Sun Conference play with a 4-1 victory at Webber International on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Gabrielle Cimino leads the offense behind eight goals and two assists for 16 points, while Isabella Penaranda allows 0.60 goals per game with 21 saves on a .875 percentage and three shutout wins.

Florida Memorial returns to conference action after falling 2-0 to Edward Waters on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Sierra Bartley scores a team-leading eight goals, getting the ball from Rudo Marufu who dishes out five assists. Lucia Martinez Garcia holds a .625 save percentage with 10 saves in five games while allowing six goals to score.

The top-ranked team in the NAIA ventures to cross-town rival Florida Memorial after besting Webber International 2-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Bouget Bouzis and Guido Cacciabue tie for the team-lead in points with nine, four goals and one assist for Bouzis and three goals along with three assists for Cacciabue. 

FMU returns to Sun Conference play after blanking Barry University 2-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Johan Arevalo sparks the attack behind three goals and two assists.
