MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 21, 2025) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team look to keep their streak alive this week with two Sun Conference match ups. The Bobcats will host both games, first against New College of Florida, followed by a second face-off against Keiser University.
The Bobcats will enter the match up against New College of Florida with an overall record of 12-5 and a conference record of 6-1. They will first host the Mighty Banyans on Wednesday, January 22nd at 5:30 p.m. In their last match up in 2023, the Bobcats defeated the Mighty Banyans 68-35. It is New College of Florida's second athletics season, and their inaugural season in the Sun Conference. The Mighty Banyans are currently 9-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play. They are on a two-game win streak after defeating both Webber International University and Warner University in closely contested matches last week. The Bobcats will travel to Sarasota, Fla. for their last regular season match up of the season on Saturday, February 22nd at 2 p.m.
Next up, St. Thomas will host the Seahawks of Keiser University for their second match up of the season. The game will take place on Saturday, January 25th at 2 p.m. in the Fernandez Family Center. The Bobcats defeated the the Seahawks in their last match up earlier in the 2024-25 season, 67-65. St. Thomas leads the series with an overall record of 27-11 and a home record of 14-3. The Seahawks are currently 10-7 overall and 4-3 in Sun Conference play.Â
PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Joey Delancy has been a powerhouse for the Bobcats this season, scoring in the double figures for the past four games. Delancy picked up 15 points in the Battle of Miami Gardens and 17 points against the Gyrenes.
- Maddie Scharrenberg currently leads the team in points this season, scoring 150 so far. Scharrenberg picked up 18 points last week, eight against Florida Memorial and 10 against Ave Maria.
- Madison Lippy was an asset to the Bobcats squad in their match up against the Gyrenes, recording a double-double performance. Lippy picked up 10 rebounds and 10 points in the road game.Â
