Women's Swimming And Diving Finish Second At NAIA National Championship, Men Place Fifth

Elkhart, Ind. – The St. Thomas University Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams concluded play at the 2025 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championships this weekend, with the Women finishing in second place with a 429.5 score while the Men placed fifth with a 324 score.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (WOMEN):
  • Stella Warborn broke the 200 Yard Breaststroke record that she set last year with a 2:12.45 race before taking third in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
  • Mireya Bonilla used a 211.00 score in the 1 Meter Dive to place third.
  • Haley VanBuskirk set the program record in the 1650 Yard Freestyle via a 17:25.81 time that placed fourth while adding a fifth-place showing in the 200 yard Freestyle.
  • Alessia Claassen finished second in the 400 Yard IM behind a program-record 4:24.44 time alongside an eighth-place finish in the 200 Yard Backstroke.
  • Martine Abrahamsen placed sixth in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
  • Katie Gorno finished eighth in the 100 Yard Freestyle.
  • Rylee Woelk finished eighth in the 200 Yard Butterfly.
  • The 4x100 Freestyle Relay team of Abrahamsen, Claassen, Gorno and VanBuskirk took third place.
  • Claassen, Warborn, Hernandez and Abrahamsen finished fourth in the 4x100 Medley Relay.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (MEN):
  • Matthew Mizell broke the program's 100 Yard Backstroke record via a 47.80 finish that earned him second place before adding an eighth-place finish in the 200 Yard Backstroke.
  • William Birkett swam the 200 yard Freestyle in 1:37.35 to place second alongside a fourth-place showing in the 100 yard Freestyle.
  • Adam Conrad finished third in the 400 Yard IM off a 3:56.55 swim before breaking the program record in the 200 Yard Backstroke off a 1:46.80 time that earned fourth place.
  • Alex Marrero took third in the 100 Yard Freestyle and sixth in the 100 Yard Backstroke
  • Kervens Warnon finished fifth in the 200 Yard Backstroke and seventh in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
  • Elliot Best placed seventh in the 400 Yard IM and 200 Yard Butterfly.
  • The 4x100 Freestyle Relay of Marrero, Birkett, Melegard Fasten and Gonzalez placed third.
  • The 4x100 Medley Relay team of Mizell, Conrad, Best and Birkett took fourth place.
