Women's Swimming And Diving In Second At NAIA National Championship, Men In The Hunt

Elkhart, Ind. – Highlighted by a pair of first-place showings the St. Thomas University Women's Swimming and Diving Team enters the third day of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship in second place while the men sit outside the top-five midway through.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS (WOMEN):
  • Sun Conference Diver of the Year Mireya Bonilla won the Three Meter Diving event with a 222.55 score.
  • Haley VanBuskirk swam the 500 Freestyle in 5:00.87 to be crowned National Champion.
  • Alessia Claassen turned in a program-record 2:04.30 200 Yard IM to earn All-American stats with a fifth-place finish.
  • Sophie Urias was named an All-American after placing fifth in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a 5:05.57 time.
  • Katie Gorno finished the 50 Yard Freestyle in 24.16 to claim sixth place and All-American accolades.
  • Sun Conference Swimmer of the Year Stella Warborn achieved All-American status with a sixth-place finish in the 200 Yard IM.
  • Claassen, Warborn, Anaya Robinson and Katie Gorno set the program record in the 4x50 Yard Medley with a 1:43.82 time to earn fourth place.
  • The 4x50 Relay team of Martine Abrahamsen, Brianna Hernandez, Gorno and VanBuskirk took fourth place.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS (MEN):
  • Adam Conrard swam the 200 Yard IM in 1:48.95 to earn All-American honors with a fourth-place finish.
  • Alex Marrero placed sixth in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a 20.09 time.
  • The 4x200 Freestyle Relay team of William Birkett, Love Mellegard Fasten, Elliot Best and Marrero took fourth place behind a 6:38.96 time
