DAYTONA, FL – The St. Thomas University women's tennis team drops two on the road this weekend. The Bobcats faced off against Savannah College of Art and Design in Orlando, FL, on Saturday. The Bobcats fell to SCAD by a score of 9-0. The Bobcats then traveled to Daytona, FL to take on Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Sunday.
The women Bobcats suffered their first road loss of the year when they faced off against SCAD, who is currently ranked 9th in the NAIA rankings. The women got a tough start in the doubles, picking up only 3 games. In the singles, Grier Clark and Adrianna Montilla played very tough and had close scores. Clark lost at 4th singles by a score of 7-5, 6-4, and Montilla lost at 5th singles by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
After the team traveled to Daytona on Sunday, they had a match to play against Embry-Riddle University. The Bobcats again struggles against the ranked foe (#6 NAIA) in doubles play. The Bobcats did however score a win by Bridget Castillo at 3rd singles by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
The women are back in action on Thursday, February 12 when they travel to West Palm Beach, FL to take on Northwood University who is ranked 15th in NAIA.
