BOBCATS TAKE DOWN CROSS TOWN RIVAL FMU TO HEAD TO CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Top seed St. Thomas (52-6) took a split on the day as Webber International (34-21) took The Sun Conference semifinal game from the Bobcats by a final score of 6-4, while game two on the day had STU eliminate cross town rivals Florida Memorial (26-21) by a final score of 14-3.
 
With the win, St. Thomas will face Webber International on Monday, May 7 at 11:30 a.m. in another must-win game for the Bobcats at The Sun Conference Championship Tournament. If the Bobcats defeat the Warriors, a second game between the two teams will need to be played as Webber has not lost a game in the double-loss elimination tournament. The winner of that second game would then be declared the champion.
 
Game one on the day had the Bobcats drop a close matchup against Webber International as the final went in favor of the Warriors, 6-4.
 
Game two on the day had STU face cross town rivals Florida Memorial. The Bobcats took down the Lions by a final score of 14-3 in a must-win scenario for the Bobcats as a game dropped earlier in the day proved to be crucial for the No. 1 seed.
 
A win for the Bobcats in this matchup closed out the season for FMU as STU eliminated its rival from The Sun Conference Championship Tournament.
 
In the ball game, Chris Garabedian dished out a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBIs, while both Randy Oliva and Nick Izquierdo went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Sergio Lopez blasted a three-run homer for the Bobcats to assist in the offensive efforts.
 
On the mound for the Bobcats, Rene Arauz pitched a complete game and earned six strikeouts, on course to the No. 1 seed taking down the No. 3 seed Florida Memorial.
 
Next up for St. Thomas is a rematch against Webber International as the Bobcats look to earn The Sun Conference Championship Tournament crown to go along with The Sun Conference Regular Season Championship.
 
Game time is set for 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
